Good Friday

Been an easy day - got my bedroom furniture re-arranged as my new bedside tables were too large for the last set up. Actually made my bed today so the duvet/shams look really nice (the set was a wedding present). Think I will get an area rug for the room (floor is laminate) but I know the dog would end up claiming it as her own...so I will have to get one that would not show dog hair too much.

Had visitors for awhile this afternoon - my brother, sister in law and almost 4yr old nephew. Was nice to have all of us sit and chat - doesn't happen very often although they live 3 minutes away. Husband and Brother are both in WWII re-enacting (Canadian Paratroopers Brigade) and are planning to go to Pennsylvania in April for an event. This will be husbands first event - he didn't think he would be going but I encouraged him to. Since he has been buying his gear on Ebay since last fall, and made a trip to Ontario to get some gear from my Uncle, I feel that if he makes that effort that he should participate.

This past work week was good - have been busy with a lot of different things. Had a WHMIS course on Wednesday afternoon for a couple of hours; thought I would be out of the office all Thursday aftenoon for the NBCSA meeting uptown, but, it only took 20 minutes! What a let down! I spent more time driving and parking!
Got out for a couple of walks on lunch break - exercise and fresh air is always good. When the weather is bad or we don't feel like going outside, we do a quick walk of the warehouse. The down side is the stale air and you have to slow down occasionaly to maneover thru pallets or whatever.

Watched "The Office" last night - that show was really hyped but I did not like it, at all. I am going to have to check the British version out - probably better than the US version.

Don't know what to title this....

Hey - it's Sunday...about 7:30pm. It is going to be an early evening, I think. Feeling like crawling into bed with a good book...let's see - Friday I cannot remember much of...I had my jeep that day so I did go to the mall to make a return at Sears during lunch time. We spent the evening in. Saturday, slept in and then lounged about drinking coffee and watching "Homicide: Life on the Street" for the morning. I had the afternoon to myself so I picked up a few groceries and had a friend over for coffee - nice to catch up. Looking forward to next month when a bunch of us will be going to Fredericton to celebrate said friend's 30th!

Made Chicken Fettucine Alfredo for husband and I for supper, topped off with a bottle of wine (our home brew!). It was fun - a meal we both enjoy and, after a glass of wine, the conversation flowed....we then made a quick run to the grocery store to pick up a few snacks before stopping off at our friends for a visit. I had never been to a grocery store while I had a slight buzz going on before.

So, we sat around and chatted for the evening - about whatever came up. Drank some more wine...we got home about 12:30am. Slept in again this morning. Did some housework this morning then went into town with my Sister. She was looking for coffee tables - so why did I end up buying bedroom side tables, to match our bed?? Because, they were on sale for a good price at Sears - so I went for it. I opted for the no payments, no interest for a year, and I got another $20 off with their Scratch and Save sale card. I didn't tell husband - he will just come home and find them later this week (he he).

And here I am at nearly 8pm on a Sunday evening - I really hate Sunday evenings, mainly because i hate Monday mornings. I have to make my lunch and decide what to wear tomorrow, and set up the coffee maker for the morning....what a dull, boring, monotomous life....I really hate the day in, day out. I was thinking that today - unless you are rich, life is very boring. Does anyone else feel that way? Maybe it is just MY life that is dull. What could shake it up some? I know that by the next weekend, I am feeling up again - I just hate knowing a Monday morning is looming at me.

These are some "getting to know you" questions that I borrowed from some other blogs that I read.....

Where were you born? Saint John
What fabric detergent do you use? Purex
Coke or Pepsi? Pepsi

Happy St. Patricks Day...

Not that I celebrated it this year. Saw an interesting piece on the news about a couple that got married today at O'Leary's, where they met. Same place husband and I met over 4 years ago. Anyway, the bride was wearing a green dress - a cute story.

Been a bit of a slow week at work - but today I had my first performance review since I have been with the company. Went really, really well - I am "exceeding expectations" on the two main categories of my day to day duties and "meeting expectations" on the two remaining categories. Just hope I get a decent pay increase - but the company I work for is notoriously stingy so.....I don't count any chickens before they are hatched!

Not much to blog tonight - this would be a lot more fun if I had someone to blog with (hint)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What I have been up to the last few days...

Friday was a great day - not just because I had the day off to myself, but because the sun was shinning. I got a couple of extra hours sleep and layed about drinking coffee and watching some TV on DVD in the morning. I met my father for lunch at noon at a local restaurant, Vitos. It felt odd to be in the Valley during the week (I work in the City and live in the Valley). Ran into a few people that I know at the restaurant - a co-worker, actually, and some co-workers of my husband.

After lunch I went for groceries - I love grocery shopping. It is the only thing I can spend money on these days and it is something that I like to do on my own. My husband and I have very different styles in grocery shopping and when we do it together we end up in a fight. When it is the three of us, it is even worse....bloody murder almost happened once. Therefore, I make it my alone time....Also ran into my sister in law and nephew - they were surprised to see me there on a weekday afternoon. I found that I could not get into the groove shopping on Friday so I ended up short on a few things. When I got home, I had planned to do more housework, but I ended up having a short nap; also watched what was going on in Atlanta on CNN with the gunman.

Friday night was really fun- we had our overnight visitors; great to visit with them again. We had 11 people in total over that night to socialize. It ended up being one of those parties were the guys and girls all seperate...guys drinking in the kitchen and girls chatting in the living room. I had hoped to have more mingling but there really wasn't room enough for everyone to be in the same place. Will have to have more outdoor BBQ's this year for that sort of thing. Had some wine and also blabbed about my blog, so more people know. Hope some more people start one, too!

Not much to say for the rest of the weekend except that I cleaned the oven on Sunday night. Oh, and we went for breakfast on Sunday morning and I had awesome strawberry pancakes! Now it is Monday and almost lunch time. The plan is to go for a walk with one of my female co-workers and get the gossip that I missed on Friday!

Borrowed this from another blog...

This is from the "Friday Five" site - late posting this but I don't think anyone will mind!

Appetizer - Who is the person you email more often than anyone else?
Assuming non work related, the person I email most is a friend that reads this blog - her initial are JM (I won't put anyone's name on this unless you say it's ok)

Soup - so far, which year of your life has been the most enjoyable?
I would say 2001 was a really good year (up until my dog got put down in late September and then I was out of a job in November). It was the first year that my husband and I dated so I have some really wonderful memories from that time....a close second was 1999 - just a fun time when I was young and carefree!

Salad - Name someone with whom you have lost touch but would like to reunite.
There are a few people that I used to work with that I would love to get together with and have a drink with - I am positive that our paths will cross again someday.

Main Course - What was the tastiest meal you had this past week?
We had Roast Beef with potatoes and carrotts, cooked in the slow cooker. My husband can take the credit for all the preparation.

Dessert - Do you Celebrate St. Patricks Day and how?
If it falls on a Friday or Saturday, then I have...otherwise, it is not a big deal to me. I can remember being at O'Leary's (local Irish Bar) the last time it fell on a Saturday....but I don't think I ever drank green beer.

Headache of the Day

Tonight is the start of a three day weekend as I have booked tomorrow off for a litte me time. Husband is assisting with a training course this evening and step-son is visiting with the in-laws until Sunday so it is just me and my girl (the dog) who has been tearing the stuffing out of her formerly favorite toy....I was in a bit of a sour mood today. This morning started with a headache that got worse when a bigger headache called (my Big Sister). Anyone that has a sister (younger or older) would understand!

Other than the whole being picked on by big sister, it was a rather uneventful day at work. I caught up on a few little chores this evening as we are having overnight visitors tomorrow (husbands brother #1 and sister in law & 8 month old nephew). We also invited some other friends over...not a party but a "social evening" as we put it.

Old Guy in the Lunch Room.....

I was in the lunch room making fun of my supervisor while he tried to microwave canned soup without making a mess. I cracked at him that he should stay out of kitchen if he can't cook! There were a couple of other guys in there so the discussion got around to men and how they shouldn't have to cook. Well, I said that I always come home to supper - I never cook...

"What do you mean?" one of the old guys said, staring at me in a disbelieving way. "You don't cook? What do you do, buy it every night? How do you eat?"
"She said she comes home to supper" one of the others piped in.
"My husband cooks supper, because he is home when I am at work" I offered. I could see the old guy was having a problem grasping the concept of the man of the house doing most of the cooking "But when I am at home and he is at work, I cook" I offered in defense of my spoiledness. I could feel the buzz being generated by my statements so I got out of there fast and back to my cubicle.

See, my husband is a shift worker( two days, two nights then four off rotation) so it makes sense for him to prepare our evening meal, as I do not get home till 5:45pm at the earliest. We just don't want to be sitting down to eat at 6:30pm every night....

Tuesday

When I woke this morning at 6am and realized it was only Tuesday, I was pissed.....it felt like it should have been a Thursday.....

Yesterday and Today

Went to the Flea Market yesterday - Hadn't been in years and it's something I do not enjoy, but...We had a few friends over in the evening for coffee and ended up playing Trivial Pursuit 90s edition. So it was past midnight when I got to bed. I hit the snooze three times this morning before I managed to get my ass out of bed. It was turning into one of those days when my ride didn't pick me up (sort of my fault), so I ended up having wheels for the day. But the day ended up being ok. I needed to get to Sears to get my Clinique bonus anyway, which I picked up after work. I bought toner #2 (needed) and Black Honey Almost Lipstick to get the bonus. Got out of the office and went for a coffee at Tim Hortons with one of the girls from work at lunch time - we just needed to get out of the office.

My weekend so far

My husband had a night shift last night, so we (step-son and I) spent the night in. I watched episodes from Season 4 of "Homicide: Life on the street" and finished organizing our wedding album. I stopped by the grocery store on the way home and had picked up a frozen pizza for supper. You know you are old when this is actually an evening that you kind of enjoy!

Spent the day visiting in-laws (Not saying that in a bad way!). Visited with my brother's sister and her husband - they just moved back from Newfoundland last month. Their new apartment is nice. We were there for a couple of hours then went to MacDonalds for a quick bite - of course the service was horrible - slow on a day that we were running late! Stopped in at husbands parents for a really quick visit on the way back home to drop off some copies of our wedding pictures for them. Then we rushed home because my husband had to be at work for 5:30 or his second night. So tonight I am updating this blog and plan to watch more "Homicide".

Just took a call from my sister - told her I started a blog and she thinks its weird! She said "Don't put my name in there!" Don't worry, I won't! I haven't told my husband about the blog or any friends, either. Think I will get this going and them tell them to check out this website and see if they figure out if it is me!

Update later.....

First Post

Hey - I have been checking out lots of blogs over the last few months and finally decided to start this!

I don't know what this blog will end up being - a bit of everything!
