Just have tomorrow and then off for a 4 day long Labour Day weekend...we were planning on camping but a combination of rain this week and high gas prices ($1.19 per litre around here) has made us think twice about this weekend. Maybe we will just pitch some tents in the backyard, invite some people over and have a campfire. And if it rains...no big deal!

I also want to get some shopping in on Friday - I need to get a battery for my watch and also get a necklace repaired...and my never ending quest for clothes goes on and on! I did buy a couple of long sleeves cotton shirts at Old Navy yesterday after work. And ordered a black skirt and a fitted stripped shirt from Sears online that should be in tomorrow.

So, tomorrow marks the beginning of the last month of my 20's....29 didn't really stick out, as all year I have been thinking this is my 30th year. I feel that I am ready for my 30's - it's not like 30 is old, if people now say 40 is the new 20...then 30 is the new 15? Don't want to be 15 again, thank you very much.

Wanted: A Good Book

Just got back from a short walk - I stick to the same path, making slight deviations, and always get back within 25 minutes. I would have walked longer tonight, but I was getting really warm in my gym pants. I may be very ambitious and go again at 8pm after Corrie Street.

Weekend was good. Had my hair appointment after work Friday and got home shortly after 7pm. John and I went out to pick up a few things later on; which ended up costing over $100. Baby shower gifts and dog food, amongst other things. I had planned on getting up early on Saturday and head out for a nice long walk before it got too hot, but we ended up sleeping in until 9:15. Then I just didn't want to go. So we puttered around all day, and when John went to work I went out again for more groceries...spent the rest of the night in, watching tv, doing some on line shopping and had some wine.

Now, to change the subject completely - I am looking for a good book to read. Something entertaining but not complete fluff - if anyone has any suggestions, comment please!

Technical Difficulties

I hate this type of weather - foggy mornings then clearing to a haze in the afternoon - but sticky, sticky hot! Hard to decide what to wear; too cold & damp in the mornings for capris and sandals, but the drive home in slacks and shoes is a nightmare!

I know weather blogs are boring, so I will stop there. Pretty good last two days - work has been great. Had technical difficulties this morning when I signed on at work and all my emails were gone; I had been told before that sometimes it happens there! So, logged a complaint with the help desk and the tech arrived at my desk within 5 minutes, and fixed the problem. Then, I tried to print on the big colour printer, and that wouldn't work. Logged another complaint and the tech came back and fixed that - he said since my profile was deleted, it affected printers too. Then I tried to use the internet - no luck. Another problem logged with help desk. This time, the tech just fixed it remotely. Good thing I wasn't under the gun for anything today.

I did get a couple of compliments on my efficiency today - always good to hear! Oh, and another "I miss you and all that you did for me" email from a former co-worker at the old job. I am making myself sick, now! Feels like I can do nothing wrong (for a little while)! Did I also mention I ran into my old boss last week and he asked if he could convince me to come back? But, he had a beer in his hand at that point...probably wasn't serious!

Also got my home email back in service - except tonight the server appears to be down! And I was so ticked when I put in a CD into my computer the other night and it was supposed to be pictures I saved before having the PC re-formatted - but it was blank! I obviously screwed up...damn! Some nice pictures gone forever! That is why I want to stick with my 35mm....

If my blog were a test....I woulda flunked!

For anyone that noticed or cared, I have gone back to a few recent posts to correct some errors in both spelling and grammar; errors that were so kindly pointed out to me by my wonderful husband.

I promise to start using spell check and also be more careful when proof reading.

As you know, not everyone is perfect, so please excuse any errors that find their way onto my blog.

End of a weekend; Start of a week

Just got back from seeing "Red Eye" with Rona and Jane; I really liked it. I like Rachel McAdams anyway, so I knew I would at least "like" it, let alone "really like it". I don't get into why I like a particular movie, or get into plot lines, so if you want details...check out the IMDB or something.

Did a little shopping last night - got some dress pants for work, a sweater, pointed-toe ankle boots and a new purse for the fall. I have to try everything on again and be sure I like it all and it fits. During the day, John and I took the dog for a walk after he got home from work. We spent the afternoon relaxing in the basement, staying cool. Also finished watching season one of "Rescue Me".

Friday night, I had my nephew stay for a sleep over. The night went fast as he fell asleep rather early. We watched a movie with horses in it, so he was very entertained. Also, the dog was well behaved so I didn't find myself saying "Sandi, stop it" all night long. But, the poor thing was a wee bit jealous of the toddler. When I was helping my nephew get his pj's on, Sandi got between us and sat on my lap, and she also managed to also get herself between us on the couch. Very funny; for those of you that have dogs, you would understand!

That is all I did the past two days. No big plans for the upcoming week except go to work then come home. I do have an appointment after work Friday for my hair...not sure how that rates on the excitement scale, but I always enjoy going as I have been going to the same person since 1998 and we always have a hoot talking about everything under the sun.

So, I now have 9 work days until a 4 day weekend - plans are not 100% but we plan to get a camping trip in.

Dogs are great!

Just got back from taking the dog, Sandi, to the ball game. She is not good around crowds. She whined, whimpered, pulled, jumped - everything but sit and be good. It was so embarrassing to see the other well behaved dogs there - purebred Labs and shepherds that are trained..and there is our mutt. We're not even sure what she is a mix of, entirely. Perhaps I should bite the bullet and take her to obedience classes this fall. We should also forget about getting another dog anytime soon. We have talked about it a few times, but I think we need another dog like we need a kick in the head!

Average day at work. Went to an RRSP info session for 1.5 hours. Got a free lunch, so I was game. Nothing else is really new...I did have a good sleep last night for a change. I have plans to meet some of the girls for supper tomorrow night, before L. leaves town. Hope to have something good...I had KD & hotdogs tonight. Last night, frozen pepperoni pizza. Good thing that I do like frozen pizza because I have a lot of it!

One more Lily to Bloom....

Flowers my husband sent me at work last Friday....

One year old cake

Life is Expensive

I will get to that later in the post....so, here it is Tuesday and I have yet to update the weekend goings on.....

Saturday was a stay at home day, cleaning the house and straightening the yard. P. came over for coffee and filled us in on his recent New York trip. I will get there someday! Saturday night - nothing at all. Watched Big Brother and had a drink or two. That may have had something to do with what happened during the night...

I remember having a very restless sleep, and one point I remember waking up screaming something like "What the Fuck is going on!" after seeing a "ghostly" figure over me and trying to push it away. I guess there is more to it...John told me I "assaulted" him during the night - by giving him a big two-handed push out of the bed and punching him in the arm, and called him a variety of names. He knew I was sleeping, but felt it would be better if he just slept in the guest room....I still think it's a bit funny.

Sunday was the BBQ and 1st Anniversary. We had the expected crowd of 20 people. The only bad thing was the recent dampness brought out caterpillars and night crawlers in the back yard, so people had to be careful eating and drinking from open cups. Everyone seemed to have a good time. I felt left out of all the conversations rushing around doing the hostess duties and getting the food ready in the kitchen. I looked after the cold stuff while John looked after the burgers and hot dogs. I do love to entertain, but you miss out sometimes on the good stuff. Oh, the Cake! For being frozen for a year, it was spectacular - not in the least bit dry. I have a picture I will post in a bit.

Later that night, P., One Arm & J came back and we had a camp fire. Good thing we left the screen house up because it started to rain slightly. J. had to leave around 11pm for work, so I went to bed at that time. The boys stayed up until about 2:30am. I could have sworn that when John came to bed he had on this LED light on a band around his head that the boys (meaning you, one arm!) were "playing" with earlier in the night. Another one of my restless dreams - maybe it was the moonlight reflecting off his forehead.

Monday - so tired from the weekend, but I was on the hunt for Yankee Fresh Peach tealights. I had bought a box in the US 50% off and discovered I loved the scent. I was tempted to order on-line but it would end up costing another $20 US on top of the price and I don't love them that much. At lunch I took a quick trip uptown to English Butler - no luck. After work I headed to the east side mall and found a box at the card store. The hunt was over!

John found a bottle of homemade wine from earlier in the year so we shared that and sat on the deck for a bit last night. I had a nice wine induced sleep until about 2:45am then could not get back to sleep due to my bed mate snoring - ended up sleeping the last few hours in the guest room.

Today - bit of a slow day at work. Emailed Jane a few times. Sat outside for lunch in the awesome sunshine. On the way home I saw that gas prices had risen to $112.5 per litre....well, that was the end of my good mood for the day. I then saw the phone bill - I was really pissed by then. I didn't feel like going out for groceries but I forced myself to get at least that done.

That is all I can post right now.

no title

I am so looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow morning, but I have so much to do...clean the house top to bottom because we are expecting about 20 family members & friends Sunday for a little bbq (also our first anniversary). I have to remember to take the cake out of the freezer - we had a lot of cake left over from our wedding. I also desperately need new clothes for work, so I hope to get to town to shop. Also need a lot of groceries. Then John wanted to invite some people over Saturday night for a fire - may or may not happen....

Today was uber-busy at work - but the day flew by. John sent me flowers as an early anniversary surprise - which I was. Other than that, an normal day.

Thursday I was so ticked at lunch time. I attempted to buy a sandwich from the vending machine in the lunch room. I inserted my money and slid open the door to the one I wanted, but it sprung back before I could reach it. Fuck! I did track down the vending person to get my $4 back later in the day, but I felt so stupid! Luckily John was in town and decided to bring me a sandwich. After work, I went to help L. pack a van to move to Halifax. T&T came by too, and L. cooked us up a delicious salmon & beef tenderloin supper on the BBQ. She always feeds us well...

Tonight, had Chinese take-out for supper and watched tv and checked out the internet. My eyes are sooo dry right now, I wished I thought to take out my contacts earlier. I am nearly ready for bed - that is all I can think of to blog.

Not much to update for the last couple of days - work: good. Home: good.

Stopped by the mall after work today and got some new undergarmets for 50% off, some Clinique face soap, and then saw my favorite brand of shampoo (Bed Head) on sale, so I decided to splurge a bit. Speaking of Clinique, I keep my quick, daily make-up in a Clinique Gift with Purchase make-up bag at work. One of the girls noticed and asked "Is that a Clinique bag"...I smiled and said, "Yes. Yes it is - I have a drawer full at home, and another one in my desk for my toothbrush". Apparantly most of the girls there are Clinique fans - I feel so at home there!

Emailed back and forth with Scum today, getting some tidbits from the old office and gossiping about my possible replacement.

Tonight, I am in for the evening and getting some laundry done. I plan on painting my toenails Cherry Cordial Red - Corrie Street is getting good; on in half an hour!

Almost time for bed for me

Not much new - the doctor was very clear that whatever on my arm is benign, so just waiting for a call to schedule the removal. Probably going to be a few months down the road. I forget what the doctor called it, but it is essentially a blood vessel that received some type of trauma and became overgrown..I know Jane emailed me what it is called, but I forget. I will not call it a "thingy" so, Jane, what was that again?

Work was good today - I signed up for the golf tournament in September; the three other girls that sit by me (aka "the Dixie Chicks") and I are going to be a team. Wow, I actually have friends at work that are girls! I hope to get some practice in before then; I haven't played in a few years, so I need lotsa practice before I look like a total ass.

I think I will go and change the sheets on the bed before hitting the hay....

The only money I managed to spend all weekend was buying fruit and yogurt for lunches next week. Oh, and a frozen pizza that we had tonight for supper.

Had a camp fire last night, just the three of us, and will be having another tonight, but this time we will be having company. Today was a hot day, so after a visit at Dad's, we met M&J at the beach for awhile. That was my first trip to the beach this summer - it was just right.

I finished "the Wonder Spot" by Melissa Banks this morning. I only started it yesterday; it was an easy read. I read "Kung-Fu and Coffee" last week; another easy read and the author's name escapes me at the moment.

Back to work tomorrow, but my day will be interrupted by a Doctor's appt. at 10:30am - a nice break to the day. I have been looking forward to this appt. in the hope that I can get a spot removed from my arm; the appt. is with a plastic surgeon so he is the guy that can help me!

Will post tomorrow - maybe!

I Just Want To Stay Home!

It seems like forever since last post, but actually has been less than a week.

Last Monday, my sister and I headed to Halifax for a couple of days. We met up with a friend and first went to Pier 21 and Citadel Hill to get some tourist things in. I've been to Halifax before, but never to do tourist things. So, that was a nice change. We met up with said friend and her fiancee later in the evening to eat (ate at McKelvie's - highly recommended) and look around the boardwalk until fireworks over the harbour in celebration of Natal Day.

Tuesday was a shopping day - a very expensive day. But I don't go on Shopping Trips often, so....I got my full that day.

We stayed a Holiday Inn Express - room was ok and best of all, cheap.

Got back on Wednesday about supper time and had the evening to myself as John was still in Cape Breton. Went to work Thursday and Friday - the days just flew by.

I have been watching the Denis Leary show "Rescue Me". I borrowed season 1 on DVD from Jane - what a great show!

Last night and today we spent at home - I am so tired of being on the go. And the dog, Sandi, has been acting up lately as a result of time alone, so I think we will be staying put for awhile.

I have to get a roll of film developed from Halifax, so I may post something later. I take my films to Shoppers Drug Mart now as they put the film on disc there - makes posting very easy!
