Some news to blog about....

I really should try to update this more often. I always check out other people’s daily updates – but I think some people have a more vivid imagination about what to blog about!

The last couple of weeks have been good – work has been busy, including a little trip to Halifax the end of last week. I have to get on a shopping trip there sometime this summer – Bayers Lake has every store that I like – Costco, Bowring, Cotton Ginny, Chapters. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on Kearney Lake Rd for only $78.50 a night – perfect place to stay for a shopping trip – cheap, easily accessible and clean! But, this was a work trip and I have to say it was an enjoyable work trip – productive and fun.

We bought some new flooring for our living room. We went back and forth between carpet and laminate, finally settling on laminate. It is a darker shade than what we have in our family room – looks more oak to me but it is a pine finish. I finally settled on a mossy greenish gray shade called “Kittiwake Gray”. It should work well with our furniture and also pick up the grey tones in the brick of our fireplace. This mini-reno is going to be a lot of work but the results will be well worth it. It has been two years since we bought the house and are finally getting around to putting our touches on the most important room in the house.

Met up with some friends, M&J and then P. stopped by later. M&J had some exciting news to share – their family will be expanding this December. They both said it hadn’t sunk in yet, but now that they are telling people, perhaps the news will seem more real. I smile when I think about them – they are good friends and John and I are really happy for them! In the last two years, we have been to 10 weddings, including our own. Out of 10 couples, 8 have had or are expecting babies – that leaves us and 1 other couple. Talk about peer pressure! When the time is right….

Got a phone call as soon as I got to the office from my sister…I knew it wouldn’t be good. She had a hit and run involving a deer. It ran into her driver’s side and then took off into the woods. I met up with her at lunchtime to check out the damage. It looked worse than it ended up costing – she got an estimate for $1000 – that includes a new side mirror – which was completely torn off. She said she saw it bounce down the side of the road – I told her she should have stopped to get it – it may have been salvageable. She said she was too stunned at the time to think of that!

And for our new summer plans – John and I are going to see Kenny Chesney at the Gillette Stadium (near Boston) on July 23rd! He totally surprised me with suggesting that we go – it was all his idea. I would love to spend a day in Boston, but I don’t think we will be able to. We should be able to spend some time in Salem – I think it would be an interesting town to check out.
